This is my prized mug collection! My husband, Joe, built this mug holder and my collection has now expanded beyond the number of hooks I have to display them here!. I’m looking into more ways to display my favorite mugs now!
Over the last couple of years I’ve built a cute collection of mugs, bowls and pots from various artists all over the world. Every piece is special to me and unique. I think it all began with my coffee obsession, which turned into a coffee MUG obsession. I find most of the artists on Instagram, but also at farmer’s markets and craft shows. Sometimes it can be SUPER competitive to get a piece-you wait for them to “drop” a new batch at a specific date and time and the pieces literally sell out in a few minutes. It’s actually quite stressful when you really want something! A lot of these artists only sell 10-20 pieces at a time and the details are so intricate, you can tell a lot of time a work went into a single piece. More recently I’ve expanded to bowls and pots since my mug wall is getting so full. I generally look for rainbow pieces, pieces with nature (bugs, bees, sea creatures, etc.) and anything blue and green (my favorite colors but also Tulane colors!). A couple of my recent buys are below.
This mug caught my eye because of the intricate work to make it look “suspended” but also it’s my favorite (Tulane) colors-green and blue! Sarah German Ceramics is the artist, you can check her out at https://www.sarahgermanceramics.com/With my new endeavor into plants, which happened by accident as I’ve had this aloe plant for almost a year now and it hasn’t died, I decided to give it a cute new pot made by Aleisha Ceramics. You can check out her work at https://www.aleishaceramics.com/I love a good large mug and I picked up this one up from a local artist at the Wine Festival during Apple Blossom Festival this year. You can check her work out at https://www.instagram.com/erikamarieceramics/I am so pleased to add this bowl to my collection that came all the way from the UK! What a unique idea to have a built in spot for dips. You can check out the artist at https://annalovespottery.com/And this is definitely my most prized possession, my rainbow F*** it mug! I am a self-proclaimed “adult who loves rainbows” so a lot of my mugs are rainbow-colored. I also have a crass sense of humor sometimes. Being able to get one of these mugs was such an intense process and I’m not afraid to say a few tears might have been shed. You can check out the artist at https://www.instagram.com/l.c.ceramics/
